    its scary to think about what a more deadly disease would do(given the inadequate response). or maybe the ease of ignorance is the special culprit in this case.

      The scary aprt with covid is that we don’t know what the long term effects are going to be. A disease that’s more immediately deadly would’ve likely forced a more organized response. Meanwhile, it’s possible to let covid run wild and thing keep functioning more or less as normal for now. However, we’re finding out stuff like this now. It’s going to be interesting to see where we are in a year or two.

        it can take some time for the consequences of immune deficiency to be felt throughout a society. most likely, covid will make us more susceptible on a population level to other pandemics. of course it will keep killing and disabling people as well.
