Ukraine was one of the richest SSRs by a long shot. To the degree where internal immigration from places like Belarus, the Caucuses, and Southern Russia was extremely common. They were a center of finance, education, industry, agriculture, and scientific prowess.
What a waste. Ukraine is not even a shadow of their former selves.
