So a friend has managed to get a Karagara account, for those of you who don’t know what it is, it’s basically the holy grail of art cinema, where you can get the weirdest and obscurest of films you could ever imagine. So basically, if you know of any film that is Marxist, communist, socialist, or political in some left leaning form that you’d like to get and which can’t be gotten through public trackers, I can get them and share them with you all on a different place so we can have a back up. I don’t want this post to be here for too long because this actually goes against the tracker rules, so once you have gave me a list I will delete the post.

I’ll be honest I don’t know any leftist films. The only thing I can think of are Soviet films and I know next to nothing about them.

Some soviet films I’ve wanted for a while in good quality (can find in lousy quality but I want something decent).

    -Earth (Zemlya) (1930)

-The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (1921)

-October: Ten Days That Shook the World (1928) (Note on this one. It is in the public domain, it can be found on internet archive but only a really shitty 720p rip that does not look good and has been floating around forever. Looking for something better quality)

    Minimum quality desired:

    • 1080p resolution (note: 480p is fine as they may only exist on dvd but 1080p preferred),
    • minimum desired bitrate: 4500kbps (much higher would be better),
    • Ideally bluray rips but webrips of 1080p are better than nothing.

Also highly appreciate english subtitles being included if available with the release as I’m unsure if they can be sourced elsewhere and as these are Russian pictures I need them.

I’ve turned every stone looking for these in public trackers and even some private ones and nothing.

To be honest anything in the soviet sci-fi space that’s a quality rip (high bitrate 480p dvd rip that hasn’t been re-encoded 5 times, bluray, or even 1080p webrip off some Russian streaming service from a good film print) would be deeply loved and valuable.

Lower priority bonuses I also wouldn’t mind:

-Walter Defends Sarajevo (1972) (Not even objectively a great film but an important one. First film screened from outside China after cultural revolution, somewhat famous there. I have a shitty copy with hard-subs but I’m looking for a quality transfer, 1080p webrip or bluray)

-Anything by Chantal Akerman, especially any kind of collected works bluray but right now the only stuff you can easily find by her is Jeanne Dielman.

Hey, I’ll ask him today and see if they are available in good resolutions, also if they are not freelech we may have wait a bit since he doesn’t have a massive ratio. The only thing I’d ask in return is for you to help me seed some sort of “Lemmygrad film archive” so that we can share it with our comrades.

Understood. The Soviet ones at the top are priority, if ratio is a concern forget about the others.

And no problem. I have a remote server dedicated for such things and a 1Gb unmetered connection.

I’m by no means a skilled pirate, so these may be available elsewhere. They aren’t really art films either. Them! (1954) and They Live (1988) are two I’ve been interested in seeing for a while but haven’t come across. Another thing that would be interesting would be recordings of Blitzstein’s The Cradle Will Rock or any Kurt Weill stuff, though those aren’t films. I do enjoy art films, though I don’t have a list in mind of ones I would like to see but haven’t been able to find, so I’d enjoy seeing what others suggest in that area.

And an edit: I suggest the decent quality ones unless you have experience to say that they’re not pleasing enough to your eyes and you need the much larger files. The larger ones could easily take a day+ to download depending on who is seeding them whereas the decent quality ones probably will be done in 6 hours or less.

      They Live (1988):

      4K decent quality: 6afb4a50ad37ada2ececdd831e01256756612d0d

      4K high quality/high size (50GB): 6429d22491e601f6693767bdb9e6e67d45cd334f

      1080p decent quality: b48b7770863d2c36173e8da0ba784ad985a0892c

      1080p high quality/high size (20GB): 1abba7d8820b29ddc8e620e818bd3b10967ec93f

      Extras folder for 1080p: ed53946d92c8fb793f6b19a47c45ad54dcf6d198

      Them! (1954)

      4k (doesn’t exist)

      1080p decent quality: c509f8ac18e34587e224acd083b46f14bf48f738

      1080p high quality/high size (20GB): 9f9abca2aaf94023f2eef1d6bf81b1acf007b3e1

Easily found comrade. Try deezer for your music, I couldn’t easily find it.

Make sure to give these info hashes a bit to work and make sure your DHT and PeX is enabled as it will take a bit to find peers without the original trackers. In fact, make sure to add “tracker.opentrackr [dot] org/announce” without quotes/fixed dot to each torrent as a tracker to help.

Since this is still up and I didn’t get many mentions in I’ll add that any Soviet war films such as:

    Battle for Moscow (1985) or

The Fall of Berlin (1949/50) as bluray rips or 1080p webrips would be great.

Caveat: Only if available as bluray rips or webrips with 4500kbps or greater bitrate. They’re both available on Youtube in the mosfilm channel (along with a ton of others) but 1) Youtube quality is garbage, bitrate is maybe 2-3000 at best 2) Youtube is not friendly and with Ukraine stuff on-going I wouldn’t be shocked if they banned the account and purged Russian culture stuff from it belatedly, to say nothing of them probably having no direct desire to host pro-communist films and those being at risk at any moment of removal.

Caveat2: No dvdrips for the above films as the youtube uploads are in 1080p quality which even at 2000kbps is at least equal if not better than 4500kbps 480/570p video. Also dvdrips do exist in public trackers last I checked.

So if they’re not free-leach no big pressure as it is accessible at least for now and maybe it can be ripped with YT-DL if nothing better crops up.

I’ll also mention as an idea, any cinema from DPRK (North Korea) could be interesting as most films there exemplify the Juche idea and thus are Marxist-Leninist in politics. I don’t have specific titles but you could look that up yourself or maybe your friend could look to see if any exist there. I’m not even sure this is possible as I’m not aware of if these have ever gotten any kind of home-media release like bluray dvd and it strikes me as likely they wouldn’t have English subtitles available as they’d be for Chinese/Russian market which would cut down massively on the ability to comprehend and really enjoy them. THOUGH if they come with pre-existing Chinese or Russian or Korean subtitles we could machine translate the subtitles easily enough.

Hey, sorry, I wanted to let some time pass to ask him since I recently requested him a film called “We The Workers” and it wasn’t freelech, which damaged his ratio a bit. I’ll ask him about these hopefully today since I think I’ll see him.

Don’t worry about it. I’m just spitting ideas here in case you really don’t have much to go on. All of these would be nice but obviously depending on how hard ratio is to get I get this could take some time.
