WTF is this kind of news being shared here? Conspiracy theories being revived?

I agree that it’s suspect, and most likely it’s a pretty non-issue if it was leaked from a lab. it’s not very likely that there is any big evil agenda around it anyways.

I felt more comfortable sharing it because of this thread: https://lemmy.ml/post/67740

It’s actually a pretty nuanced issue.

Then I am sure the Fort Detrick angle also deserves to be shared, because the Western media has decided to poison the minds of people with reverse debunking a conspiracy theory to revive it.

Sure! I know potholer made a good video on it as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-A_OPWa5VI (Tldr; that the whole thing is just a false narrative that has come after news sources have upped the sensationalism after repeating each other for a while)

Which is my current position on the matter until new evidence turns out.

But BTW, remember to read the article.

Sources of conspiracy: BBC, DW, New York Times, Murdoch media (The Australian, Sky News)

LMFAO debunked instantly, are you into the right wing libertarian conspiracist echo chamber?

I made a TLDR so that you understand the context of the video.

are you into the right wing libertarian conspiracist echo chamber?

I’m from Norway dude. I think you have more in common with them than me.

Telling a socialism leaning person they are in line with libertarians. Comedy achieved

Well, it’s called horseshoe theory. That there are fringe people who gets swayed by populist appeal. I’m considered pretty left by most people myself, but I also live in a social democracy.

I mean, I kind of agree. Far right and far left is very different policy wise. Not only that but far left is hardly ever relevant as the far right is much better at recruiting and building their movement.

The thing that is in common is the populism and easy answers to difficult questions. And that drives the same type of “target groups” to both these sides. So that’s my thinking about the horseshoe hypothesis.

You should not rely on oversimplification and overgeneralisation, especially if as you says you are in the journalism and communication business.

Well, I’m generalizing too much but if I’m too specific I’ll be doing a strawman. It’s not so simple, but I try my best.
