I don’t feel like I am particularly good at it either but I find if I persevere at reading it (I read about 20 poems a day) it makes my imagination broaden. Sometimes I’m completely lost but much of the time I read them and am just astonished at all those words fit together.

My advice is don’t bother trying too hard to understand it and just let the images your mind conjures reading it guide you.

Too many years of English where we had to dissect the meaning of passages. I genuinely feel I can’t switch my brain off from trying to decipher meaning and then I get frustrated at not knowing the answer. Ha!

Poems are not locked boxes to be picked at. They don’t have secrets to discover. Read and let any feelings ignited by the words burn.

Feelings are what poems convey, anything more is just onanism by the reader or author
