A simple web extension that redirects Twitter, YouTube, Instagram & Google Maps requests to privacy friendly alternatives. - SimonBrazell/privacy-redirect

A browser extension that redirects Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Google Maps, Reddit, Google Search, & Google Translate requests to privacy friendly alternatives - Nitter, Invidious, FreeTube, Bibliogram, OpenStreetMap, SimplyTranslate & Private Search Engines like DuckDuckGo and Startpage.

I love this extension, its the only non “recommended” extension I use, hope it some day will get the verification so I can start using it in the workplace too.

Been using it for a long time, I strongly recommend it.

Me too, the only thing that annoys me a bit is that Invidious and Nitter instances often have little consistency and fail to display the corresponding link. I then have to try another instance to be able to see it. The same reason has also stopped me from using SearX as a search engine, because often the public instances stopped working or only worked poorly. At the moment I use Whoogle, which is great. Several stable public instances, list down in the github page, also permit redirect links to privacy front-ends, for Exmpl. this instance https://whoogle.sdf.org

Good that you mention Whoogle. I have been using my self hosted Searx instance for a long time, recently I had to change the engines settings of it because the defaults with Google and Bing gave “too many requests” errors, but using Searx now with DDG,Startpage works fine. I noticed that Garuda Linux comes by default with FireDragon browser and Whoogle running locally which works fine, though I wonder how effective a local Whoogle install is compared to a remote server Whoogle install.

I can’t host a Whoogle instance, but also the públic instance I use (https://whooglesearch.net) works fast (more than other search engines I use*) and flawless.

*A lot, switching from one to another, as needed

All the search engines, except Google, Bing;, Yahoo and Yandex.

I’ve used it for two months, mainly for Reddit, Youtube and search redirects, and it works really well! I recommend it

dragonx mentioned it recently. I like it over Invidition, that did only Twitter and YouTube.
