    They don’t necessarily taste like meat, but it makes a nice change from tofu

    on a serious note though, it’s nice to see the change, especially in a country with such a huge population, that is comprised of whom many call middle-class - or what’s relevant in this context - someone who can afford meat

    but i’m afraid this is also not nearly enough: meat and other animal products are so inefficient in it’s production, that even a small subset of population eating a meat-majority diet can ruin and negate any environmental benefits of a plant-based diet for everyone else, and this is assuming that the majority of the population are eating a plant-based diet, which it’s not at the moment…

    this has a become a cliche comment under any post about plant-based meat at this point, that it’s nice to see the change, but not nearly enough

    This is huge! Mean consumption had been ingrained in Chinese culture because for a long time, most people couldn’t afford it, so once wealth increased, it became a staple. Super glad to see that’s changing.
