Kasparaov is kind of a nutcase, and I can remember him spouting some anti-muslim garbage in the past

He’s a Russian liberal. For all their talks about opposing Putin coz he’s a bloodthirsty dictator, their own views and politics are quite cannibalistic

“We need to abolish free medicine and stop treating cancer and AIDS patients because they are useless to society.” - the most iconic Russian lib take I ever saw.

“I don’t fucking care about black savage monkeys living in their shitty Africa” - worthy mention.

Classic. Especially the first one. “Why should I, awesome and cool and educated and all, be supporting them yucky homeless?!” - actual topic of an article by one Yulia Latynina.

He’s a hardcore anticom who participates in anticom organizations masqueradung as peace and democracy organizations. He was involved in promoting Juan Guaido for example.

    • Obviously he has no real conscience, but the stuff with Starlink there seemed to change his mind. Maybe he saw how things really are there. Certainly not defending him, but sometimes reality just becomes unavoidable.

I am 100% convinced that the Starlink stuff was just a stunt to secure funding. Around the same that story was happening, Richard Branson has secured a contract for his private aerospace company to build and operate an aerial start spaceport in Luxemburg. “In the interests of NATO”.

I’d love that to be true and maybe it is but it doesn’t erase his scummy horseshit including his pandering to the American state and the subsequent contacts and help he received.

I’m fully ready to accept anyone who gets a grip and grows up, but the emerald mine slavery sion is not someone I expect to change.

That said I hope I’m proven wrong because one more converted individual especially with his power and influence is great. I just don’t see it happening.

        • I don’t think he’ll ever be anything other than a turd. He’s a total conman POS, but sometimes people can be right about certain things.

He’s a bit of a tech libertarian type isn’t he? Which I guess would go ways to explain his takes on this.

            • Probably. He’s just another privileged idiot who conned his way to success. His true talent is actually conning people.

The YouTube channel ‘Common Sense Skeptic’ has several videos on his history. Terrible channel name tbh but they are from Canada, so maybe debate bro idiots haven’t coopted that language there yet. Their videos on Musk are good at least.

Libertarians are odd. They will have a correct analysis once in a blue moon, but never a good solution to fix it.

Yep lol he is a A-grade conman.

I’m usually very skeptical (get it 🤣) of the YouTube skeptic community given all the reactionary bigotry I’ve seen come out of it but if you vouch for them I’ll have a look.

Sounds just like anarchists! Ba dum tis.

                • Their Elon Musk videos were very informative and eye opening. Can’t vouch for anything else on the channel (have no reason to believe it’s bad - just haven’t watched) but those I recommend.

Musk taking “based” stances on Ukraine is just in pattern with Republicans being “based” by now officially running their campaigns on pulling aid to Ukraine. It’s fascists and the ruling class adopting anti-imperialist rhetoric in order to alienate progressives from anti-imperialist ideas. Because liberals are too fucking dumb to think deeper about the issue and will just think “Republicans support this so it must be evil.”

It’s literally the extreme right superficially co-opting leftism, like they do over and over again.

Eh he’s wrong about Ukraine and a whole lot else, but he’s not wrong that rich silicon valley assholes should stfu.

Musk on the other hand is just always wrong by default.

I’m not seeing anything ‘based’ here.

Remember a while back Grimes did that photo op posing with a copy of Das Kapital?

My theory is that she reads out loud the bits that she thinks sound cool, and sometimes Elon hears them when he’s high and they stick.

That way he has this collection of snippets of based ideas that he’ll occasionally drop to sound smart, but without realising that they’re connected to a system of ideas that oppose his billionaire class.

We put too much weight in the words of ‘famous’ people. I don’t personally care what Musk thinks.
