List of known repos that can be used with F-Droid. Might help anyone getting started who wants to see more software. IzzyOnDroid is highly recommended to really flesh out F-Droid.

I use Izzy’s, unofficial Firefox, Bromite, Newpipe, Collabora Office, as well as the f-droid and Guardian repos that are enabled by default.

I always hear people praise Izzy’s repo, but I’ve always made do (due?) with F-Droid’s default repo + Fluffychat, NewPipe, and Bitwarden repos. Does anyone know of any really good apps specific to Izzy’s repo that would make it worth activating?

It is less about specific in my experience and more about discovery. Since their repo has quite a bit more options and often updates faster of F-Droid official repo.

I activated it because of Otter, which is an app for Funkwhale.

The repo of Izzy uses the APKs of the app authors (often the GitHub Releases). The main repo of F-Droid is built from source code. So Izzy gets faster updates, but the main repo builds from source code. Of course, the app must be open source in both.

Yes, it could be. On F-Droid is a bit more “strict” way to publish an app than on Izzy’s repo.

IMHO, iceraven shouldn’t be used in a “production” enviroment, the updates are sometimes slow and it has some security problems (at least, when I tried it). I can suggest you to use fennec or, if you want to try an hardened configuration, Mull. Mull is developed by the DivestOS team, and use settings from the arkenfox user.js. You can add this repository to download it https://divestos.org/fdroid/official?fingerprint=E4BE8D6ABFA4D9D4FEEF03CDDA7FF62A73FD64B75566F6DD4E5E577550BE8467 Only an advice to avoid breaking too many websites, if you’re gonna use Mull: change the setting “security.OCSP.require” to false
