I don’t like this. It seems to have been written by a transphobe. I mean i get the joke but it’s not really very funny to me. We can critically support Russia’s anti-fascist, anti-imperialist intervention without sharing reactionary memes that poke fun at trans people.

Also, that whole “russia” community on lemmy seems to be infested with people propagating pro-Ukraine talking points and false narratives about the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

I agree with you, I don’t really find this to be a joke in good taste. It’s largely belittling trans identities, with a strong misunderstanding of what the terminology even means.

Hallmarks of transphobic jokes: applying trans identities to things unrelated, especially inanimate objects or absurd situations; ending it with an argument that disagreeing with the set-up is inherently bigoted (transphobes believe that trans people are leveling the term “transphobia” at anything they disagree with in order to censor them; using as many “trans buzzwords” as they can without regard to what they actually mean; jokes about pronouns; reducing trans experience to “x trapped in y body”

These don’t necessarily make a joke transphobic, but are usually pretty good signs that the person making the joke isn’t trans and doesn’t respect trans people.

However, no one reported this, and it seems plenty of trans comrades have a different read on it than I do, so I won’t take it down.
