      It is no coincidence that the decline happened right after dissolution.

      Also, some of the towns which didn’t get completely abandoned had some population recovery in late 2000s.

        That is really sad. When you have planning and allocate resources to rural areas, you can keep them going, keep infrastructure working, and avoid the death spiral like you say. Really sad to see a lot of places with distinct cultures just get hollowed out.
