There’s only really a few reasons if you can call them that.

Profits and micromanaging.

If “we” the workers aren’t in the office and the company can downsize or remove the office all together then those corporate rents are going to lose money. Corporate rent has an enormous global issue.

Secondly lots of middle managers that actually do very little will find their power and usefulness questioned. If all they do is manage a team and don’t actually need to do that then Middle men might lose their jobs.

Hopefully both of these come to pass.
