‘nice’ opinions

Very… ‘nice’…

  • Wion is a shithole propaganda news outlet. They try to act like crypto leeches but are very apparent. Their audience in India is largely right wingers. Take what you can from this information.

Can you recommend some better source for people outside India, where we can find out about some local afairs, but also opinions on world topics? Big plus if it is video.

Most have become corrupt in general, and require a lot of nuance and knowing Hindi language to understand. There is nothing that will not piss off socialists. The state of Indian media is like this, all TV channels are state propaganda directed by a religious extremist party in government, the only one that was left (NDTV) is going into one of the 2 colossal oligarchs’ pockets who are partners with said religious extremist government.

What is left is digital media, and the only one that could be digested is newslaundry (on YouTube and own website), and it is liberal and somewhat reactionary. Outside of southern states, India has no actual leftism. Capital Delhi has an anarchist party called AAP, that is slowly expanding and winning in other states.

There are many cancerous ones like Dhruv Rathee, Akash Banerjee and so on, avoid them like the plague.

There is blog/website style stuff you can read on Caravan, The Wire, The Ken or Crimethinc.

Thank you, for explanation and recomendations. It is similar situation like everywhere else, sadly this is not surprising.

I don’t expect to find the truth, but to get a feeling what someone from India wants people to hear, like I try to find from other countries.

  • Ah that outlet lol, constant bullshit spewed by the Indian far right. Surely in the back of their minds they should detect that their new western friends have knives pointed right at their back rather than trying to start shit with their neighbour…

Unfortunately no. Anti china propaganda is pretty strong. Apart from news channels like this one (Wion), our national news service (Doordarshan) on CPC’s 100th anniversary was talking about Tiananmen Square “massacre” and Xi getting his competitors locked up on corruption charges to take hold of the presidency and a ton of other nonsense in the same vein. Apart from this there are tons of bot accounts on all social media constantly stoking communalism and anti-China sentiment.

What exactly is the deal with India’s Anti-Chinaism anyway? The territory disputes and China being friends with Pakistan seem like small stuff compared to benefits of the two cooperating. Is western influence and propaganda that crazily strong and prevalent in India? If so the good relationship has and maintains with Russia even in the midst of this Ukraine conflict doesn’t make a lot of sense.

One of the few cases where I actually find “moral relativism” incredibly relevant. Westerners trying to police the eating habits of other nations and areas because dogs are “man’s best friend” and intelligent, while ignoring the scientific consensus that a grown pig has similar “mental capacity” to a 3 year old child. Yet they love their civilized bacon. You also don’t see this shit levied against southern Korea where eating dog meat is relatively common, probably because they’re a Western puppet and south Koreans are honorary Aryans to a lot of them.

Nazeem asking you if you go to the cloud district very often is less repetitive, annoying and robotic then the things WIONers say.
