I don’t think it ever really was about Ukraine. Ukraine just happened to be a Russia bordering nation that isn’t part of NATO. And the US and friends just want to defeat Russian influence over Europe, because then the US can completely dominate the continent. And in Ukraine they succeeded in luring Russia into war.
Yes, it never was, it was always about Russia, which was always seen as outside enemy, even during the Napoleonic Wars and Holy Alliance when it literally saved the asses of western empires.
