    I feel like the solar panel would probably interfere with the capacitive touchscreens on modern smartphones.
    They register touches by detecting changes in the electro-magnetic field, so a solar panel sitting on top and producing electricity would probably register all kinds of supposed touches.

      If I understand the technology correctly, it works by capturing mostly infrared light and transferring them along the glass via total internal reflection to a tiny opaque solar panel in the edge. I don’t think that would interfere with capacitive touchscreens since electricity isn’t generated on the glass surface.
