The proletariat doesn’t deserve this. It’s mostly the politicians that are getting off scot-free.

I saw a tweet a few weeks back from a chinese person, talking about how fucked up it is that ppl in the US are cheering on the death of the elderly. Its a tragedy regardless of how politically propagandized and ignorant they can be.

Yes, I agree. And less we forget: it’s not like every elderly person has a boomer mindset to them. Hell, my own grandmother inspired me to get into communism (granted, she lives in Turkey, but still!)

But on the larger point: in the end, living under capitalism is sure to mess up your mind and in that sense I don’t hold the proletariat necessarily responsible, especially the more downtrodden parts of them. To do so would appear to just help regurgitate propaganda that the United States is ultimately run by the people en masse. It isn’t. It’s ruled by the ruling-class.

You should go on WeChat (if you can get someone to verify your account, that is) and maybe strike up a convo with some Chinese people; they’re arguably more “woke” or whatever you call it than people in the West, though not every one of them is a “communist” or at least in the CPC or their Youth League. I’ve met some, but most don’t really think about that type of stuff or have studied it intensively (though they’ve certainly attended the classes).

Of course, it’s much like the USSR in that case, even during Stalin’s time, though the CPC and Youth League are much, much bigger percentage-wise and with less CIA or NED agents so I’m not too worried.

Yep. I really liked how when describing russian anti-semitism, Lenin described the people as “crushed and inarticulate”… that anti-semitic ideology was a process to turn workers against each other and scape-goat the russian jews for the problems of tsarist rule.

I’m studying mandarin but once I get some more time I wanna spend a lot more time w/ it every day, then getting into some mandarin social media.

Oh yeah, use Tandem (a language-exchange app) to meet Chinese people and practice with them. Avoid HelloTalk. Maybe get a WeChat earlier than you planned so you can add them to your contacts. Other than that, I would suggest spending at least 3 hours a day practicing (doesn’t have to be intensive or anything) but not too much so you don’t burn yourself out. I also have a friend learning Mandarin and I myself am learning Turkish as I’ll be living in Turkey later on, probably this year (though it keeps getting pushed back lol)

As for what Lenin said, I think much of racism comes from the upper middle classes. I remember even some Latino/a people in my school being racist toward me and also pretty classist. Lots of rich white boys in my school years as well. That said, it’s true that the bourgeois propel their views onto others and they obviously got it from somewhere.

I’ll say this: the only thing that “trickles down” in capitalism is racism and classism.
