Prime Minister Gaston Browne told ITV News he plans to hold a referendum within the next three years to decide whether to remove the king as head of state and become a republic.

    I expect these relics to drop out sooner or later, just as Barbados did a while back.

    Then again, many of these countries probably have more pressing problems to deal with so the question of a harmless monarch may be reasonably postponed. Outdated as they are.

    Good. This time of transition is the perfect time to reconsider whether to move away from this vestige of the colonial era.
