What I have never understood is why can’t the IRS just make all of this automated? They already have most of the information that they need to do this. If there is anything else, that the IRS doesn’t have access to, then we could just provide those little bits and be done.
For one, they don’t have the funding to do this. But perhaps more importantly, its not in the interest of companies which sell tax services. Lobbying is by far the most important reason as to why the system we have exists.
A step in the right direction if this actually became an option.
