I got a bike recently, and before that I used to walk everywhere. I had classes pretty early in the morning a lot of the time, so i’d skip breakfast pretty often and it was never much of a problem. So today I did the same but rode my bike instead, and it was fine on the ride, but as soon as i got off my heart shot right up my throat and i felt like throwing up. Took like 5 mins of sitting down to feel fine again.

Don’t skip breakfast, kids

I usually would eat pretty well before cycling, but once when I was trying to lose weight, I under-ate a bit. My commute was around 13 miles each way, and on the way back I got 6 miles in and couldn’t do it. Had to stop and pick up an energy bar. For sure, when you’re exercising, you need to fuel yourself properly.

Just some light carbs is all you need. I have a banana for breakfast. Porridge (oats) can be great in winter too.

    Keep up the cycling 💪

That’s probably different from person to person. I have never had that happen to me, and I regularly skip breakfast and have been using my bicycle to go almost everywhere I need to go for the last about ten years. Maybe a better tip would be “If you are bicycling to commute, don’t overdo it on the speed, especially if you are still somewhat new to cycling.”
