I had listened to him talk once on news and got the impression that he was some random Trumpist hack but I discovered recently that he was formerly the mayor of New York. The USA never fails to surprise.
Liberals used to love him because he was the mayor of NY when the Sept 11 attacks occurred. The consensus was that he did a good job handling it at the time. He was dubbed “America’s mayor.” Crime rates also dropped a fair bit while he was mayor (I believe mostly as a result of rapid gentrifican).
Now liberals are mad because of his role as a top legal advisor to Trump. There’s a narrative that he used to be great (as “America’s mayor”) and had a “fall from grace” but in reality he was always bad.
