the ascii is so cute! man, i gotta get my VMs some good ascii.
If you mean the bear, thanks! I can give that away.

If you mean the little void logo, I agree. It looks like it’s available for a ton of OSes too! ufetch
I went and added some text banners to tide me over, which mostly aren’t as cool, but I did find a nice ascii art tower for a machine named… tower :) you’ve got me curious about whether i could get my icon thing into ascii, now…
I think yours will be harder to make, but not impossible. I was looking for something to practice anyways, so here’s a couple of shapes as a proof of concept.

/ \ / \
| `. .' |
| `-.__ __,-' |
| `----------' |
Or you could make a kind of bad mini-icon:
* |\ /| *
* `-._,-' *
:D :D :D no, I love the mini icon, it’s not bad at all!!! the small size makes it useful and I was vaguely thinking it’d be cool to have the stars as asterisks!!
* |\ /| *
\ `-._,-' /
* `-._,-' *
I am now really tempted to make this my email signature. :) thank you! I have 0 experience fussing with back ticks and apostrophes so this would have taken me ages (e: i tried fattening up the one part of the moon because i decided i don’t care about astronomical correctness of the crescent and … it may just be perfect now :O)
Ooh! Yeah, the curve on that moon looks a lot more like the original you sent.
I have little experience too. If you’re interested, I was following this tutorial shared to me by another lemmy user
EDIT: Oh yeah, and I have no idea why I didn’t think of that. My little bear should absolutely be my email signature too.
thanks for the tutorial :D I don’t know what I’m going to use this for exactly – my life these days is lived mostly in proportional fonts – but this is the kind of skill I’d like to have :)
No problem! I’m just passing it along. I tought I would add that I use a proportional font on my website too and put my ascii art in '<pre><code>` tags. Then I just have my css unobtrusively switch:
Without borders, it works well inline, and the font change isn’t super obnoxious when it’s just ascii art.
I am getting flashbacks to Windows 2.0.
You seem to really enjoy light :p
yeah, lately i’ve prefered it. it just feels simple/clean
