One thing that struck me is that globally, anyone who’s at least middle class in a developed country sort of is a rich guy. Which means that our disputes are, well, participating in a rich guy off.

There’s some real magical thinking about the idea that the legal system can’t get you if you have your hand on home base or write with capital letters or whatever. There are probably interesting comparisons to be made about folk spiritualities and how they claimed power away from formal priesthood; what is real that a person gains from their magna carta amulet?
