For good environmental reasons we should eat less meat. But banning the term veggie burger would not help that.
The whole controversy is asinine: no one is confused by “peanut butter” and thinks that anyone is milking a brown cow to get the stuff.
It’s just the meat and dairy industry going on the attack because these sorts of things are becoming widespread. You could say they’re “afraid”, but it’s probably more accurate to say that they’re “protecting their territory.”
It’s also trendy to hate everything about veganism on social media for some dumb reason.
A “burger” or “hamburger” doesn’t even imply containing meat. “Hamburger” is German for “from the city of Hamburg”, where the food (debatably) originated. It’s not “ham” as the pork product.
