Well I don’t have any game or social thing on my smartphone, I use it for GPS and browse internet if needed. It’s a good utility, it depends on how you use it, in my case it’s degoogled, I don’t have many apps and the few I have are all utilities made with open source, ethical and private design (you can check on their Git).
Also, I can do all calls and messages easily. And when internet is down, I can use my phone to get internet on my computers via 4G/5G. It’s really a good utility, that’s why is called smartphone. I think, before going to dumbphone better learn to have only the needed apps and debloat your phone.
Or if people must post a video, they need to have a reasonable length text to explain it, so everyone can participate without having to watch the video.
For about half a year, I was using a dumbphone. I only switched back because it started having bugs a few months ago. Losing MMS messages, failure to show the name associated with a number, and some other stuff. It’s a shame. If you’re curious, it’s the Sunbeam F1.
While I’m waiting for an update to fix it, I’ve switched back to my Samsung smartphone. Sure, it’s heavy and distracting, but at least I can reliably receive calls and messages. Which is the point of a phone to begin with :/
meh, that intro of a celebrity tuning off of internet was as far as I got. They literally have a swarm of assistants doing everything for them. what’s the big deal with that? And celebrities lie, that’s their whole schtick trying to be “unique” without any need for proof.
When i go out I don’t turn on data or wi-fi. it’s just there for calls, location, or a map (an offline one at that). You know things that are vital for everyday travel?
Can you get that level of sophistication without a smartphone? This is just cringe.

I know it might sound negative, but can we on Lemmy minimize the amount of video links posted on the site globally.
Because I feel that they dilute the quality of the site.

Extremely true.
