      You don’t have to worry about that. Microsoft will continue to make inroads into the Open Source community, hiring away all of the talented programmers and quietly assimilating the most useful projects and then turn around and make it all proprietary. If you think I’m full of it, let me remind you that this is EXACTLY Google’s business model - and it works.

      Microsoft and others have growing influence in the Linux world. It’s becoming the corporate OS, and in some ways already is.

        I’ll be sticking with Debian and Arch, then. If Linux itself is compromised, there’s always BSD and illumos.

        This is the nice thing about open-source software. If some corporate idiots ruin Linux, we can just fork it and revert to an older commit.

          there is no guarantee that enough people are going to not use their corporate garbage to make an impact… but see how long their control over the global market lasts
