    There’s a famous Dutch song about the Berlin Wall and life on both sides of it, seen from the perspective of birds who can fly to both parts.

    The part about East Germany is some vague lines about paranoia regarding having an opinion. The part about West Germany is about poverty, inequality, and the best line of the song:

    Je mag protesteren, maar met je rug tegen de muur (You have the right to protest, but with your back against the wall) En alleen als je geld hebt, is de vrijheid niet duur (And only if you have money, the freedom isn’t expensive)
