Several people have claimed that it is bad (Also in comment to my comments about it) to run your own Searx instance just for yourself, or you and your friends. I doubt that it is worse compared to using for example DuckDuckGo search engine without Tor, as I assume only my own self-hosted Searx instance will see my browser fingerprint. And of course I can also use Searx with Tor browser if I feel like. And in general, not privacy-wise, I like Searx for some searches, as it does use Google, Bing, Wikipedia to get its data, and you can tweak the settings. It is nice that it shows the relevant Wikipedia result at the top right, as that is sometimes the only thing that I need as search result, for example looking up history facts for music or countries.
