This is possibly the most disappointing plague-related news since–wait.
That bad joke aside, it’s always interesting to see how sensible people came to adaptive conclusions despite working with mistaken theories. That phenomenon reminds us to maintain a certain humility in the face of the argument-from-utility one often hears about contemporary ideologies.
