Today’s discussion questions are…
-
What are your favorite fantasy series, if any?
-
What are your favorite sci-fi series, if any?
-
What are your favorite horror/weird fiction series, if any?
My answers:
A Song of Ice and Fire by George Martin
Sci-fi series would be: none
Horror fiction would be The Terror by Dan Simmons.
Bonus question:
What is your favorite fantasy character or list of fantasy characters?
Mine are Stannis Baratheon, Davos Seaworth, Robert Baratheon, and Maester Pylos.
Also, shameless plug-in for a Discord server that me, BayArea415, and some good friends created:
Enjoy!
I don’t really know if it qualifies as non-fiction but I’ve been reading Herodotus’ Histories, and suprinsingly I have found them to be quite entertaining. For fiction, I’ve read The King of Elfland’s Daughter by lord Dunsany and I’ve loved it. Worth a read if you like classic fantasy, although it falls more on the side of a fairy tale.
- This is a tough one for me. I’s say either The Witcher (books & games, not the Netflix show) or The Elder Scrolls, although Lord of the Rings and A Song of Ice and Fire will always have a special place in my heart (even after the season 8 ordeal).
- I’m not really that much into sci-fi, but I do enjoy some ‘futuristic’ movies like Blade Runner or The Fifth Element.
- I haven’t read or watched much horror so I’ve yet to form an opinion, but I like Alien (the first one). Bonus question: Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg and Ciri. Also, I really like the Targaryens, I think they’re cool, except for the whole incest stuff.
Ah! Another Lord Dunsany fan, I think!
