Lord of the Rings Spoilers ahead…

spoiler

Every time I rewatch Lord of the Rings. Just after Gandalf sacrifices himself and the the rest of the fellowship escape out of Moria. When the music starts playing and each character starts to realise what just happened. Gets me every time. Also the end of the final film.

Kind of a weird one, but a Mel Brooks comedy called life stinks.

A rich businessman makes a bet with his rival that he can live on the streets of LA with the homeless for one week without his money. Its not a bad movie, but there’s a part in it where one of the homeless friends he makes, unexpectedly dies… it comes out of nowhere for a comedy film and made me cry a LOT.

I’m not a very emotional person (I just haven’t cried since I was about 12 yo), but the moment of bonding between Hiccup and Toothless ( Forbidden Friendship ) always makes me emotional and brings me close to tears. It’s one of the few pieces of media manages to do it. The whole trilogy is fantastic, btw.

Edit: I forgot about The Elephant Man! Man, knowing that it was based on true life events hit me hard (even though it was novelised, of course).

most recently the first episode of chernobyl. I couldn’t make it past the line where one of them asks if the others can taste metal. even reminding myself that they’re all a bunch of british actors–too awful.

Lion (2016) in the scenes where the main character’s adoptive brother does self harm. That is hard to watch without tears!

A lot of movies and TV make me cry or come close to tears lately, which is kind of new for me but so are a lot of things these days. The latest movie I watched that had this effect was Crip Camp on Netflix, available for all on YouTube. Highly recommend.
