alternativeto website shows one open source option : https://github.com/fastbootmobile/encore

Encore is an open-source music app for Android allowing you to listen to music from multiple plug-in sources, make cross-platform playlists, create automated mixes, recognize music, and much more. It also supports casting to Chromecast, and contains an Android TV UI.

Very good question. I look for alternatives but I never thought about Shazam.

Was just thinking about something like this last night, to my knowledge I do not know of anything unfortunately. Would love to hear if you find something though. ajz listed Encore, but as you said it looks abandoned, also it looks to be much more than a simple music recognition app which I personally do not need.

Websites aren’t generally helpful with stuff like audio recognition as compared to an app. Generally when you want to do audio recognition it’s somewhere public, or on a radio or something where you want to click a button to just know what a song is.
