Being the only city in the state/province with an allegedly viable economy (due to IT) while the rest of the province writhes in poverty due to negligence.
Where is that? It’s kinda familiar scene in eastern parts of europe: capital is doing well while the rest of the country is in complete shambles.

My hometown is famous for having a midget village. The rumors are false because I actually grew up in the exact neighborhood the rumors were about. I’m not a midget (6’6"). Neither is Geraldo Rivera who moved there in the 90s.

Norman, as a university town, has famous stuff related to the university. There are 7 National Championships in football. But my favorite is that it employed Louis Jolyon West. He did a lot of experiments with LSD, including work for MK-Ultra and making an Elephant trip out (to the point that the elephant died).
We won two consecutive editions of the bowl’s worldcup. Never checked whether that was true or not (there’s no place to play bowls in my small ~5000 people village, apparently our team practices in another town) but we had this giant banner on our most trafficked road proudly announcing it
From a tech perspective, we have the alma mater of Bjarne Stroustrup of C++ fame, and Ivan Damgård of Merkle-Damgård fame.
