And of course the “correct” answer to capitalist systems losing to China means that even more money “must” go into the military industrial complex (instead of things that actually help everyday people or internal infrastructure). /s

The greedy capitalists wanting to not pay workers in their own nations and sending everything to China (which China was fine with as it meant getting to ramp up their infrastructure and start making their own advancements). Now that they have started to be undone the nations will start falling on acting tough and escalate the new cold war. All due to their own actions and finding every possible way to make numbers keep going up un-sustainably.

I really can’t understand what these people are expecting. The economic situation in the west is rapidly deteriorating, and people are getting increasingly restless. Instead of investing in improving the material conditions for the people in the west, they’re going to devote their remaining resources towards mass military spending. Western leadership appears to be completely and utterly divorced from the reality we’re living in.

Its not just the leadership, its the population. Every time I make a point against sending billions of dollars in weapons to Ukraine I’m told shit like “what else are we supposed to do?” and my jaw just drops. When I continue arguing mypointI they say I am brainwashed by Russian propaganda.

It’s incredibly depressing to see that people no longer understand the concept of diplomacy, and why it’s better to resolve issues through diplomatic means than through wars. It’s only possible to dictate to others when your side is unequivocally stronger than the other. In a situation where both powers think they can win through force it’s necessary to find some common ground that everyone can live with.

In case of Ukraine in particular, fuelling the fire is incredibly unethical in my opinion. There is no path for Ukraine to win this war, and all the west is doing is ensuring that more people suffer and die. It’s a cynical proxy war that’s going to result in a horrific outcome for Ukraine in the end.

The fact that rational discussion is no longer possible on the subject is a testament to the power of western propaganda.

It also sucks that people have no idea what the interests of their country are. And so they are willing to suffer worse living conditions for some abstract “freedom”, or to “hurt Putin”.

I think part of the reason is that previously people in the west didn’t really see direct blow back from the foreign policy their governments enact. This is the first time that people in western countries are experiencing direct impact from sanctions first hand. We’re starting public backlash starting to foment as people start to connect the dots.

You mean like on 9/11 which was a direct result of USA foreign policy? The governments really did a great job blaming the entirety of that on Islamic terrorism and started two wars over it. However I dont think it was very difficult convincing the american public that invading the middle east was for their benefit, even after a decade of being there.

I see many parallels with the yellow ribbon car magnets back then and Ukraine flags today. Except now there’s a lot more blue line american flags everywhere which scares the shit out of me.

Yeah it’s basically the same playbook every time. The big difference now is that US is playing a game of chicken with a nuclear superpower, and this could result in apocalyptic consequences.

The war in Ukraine, Blair said, had clarified that the West could not rely on China “to behave in the way we would consider rational”.

I’m guessing he’s using rational as a euphemism for subservient there. The only actors that aren’t rational here are EU and Ukraine from what I can tell.

Good, I would like less Western dominance. I wish this happened 30 years ago, then maybe Iraq didn’t have to be invaded and destroyed by the West.

Tony Blair is a mass murderer. I’ll listen to what he says after he answers for his crimes.
