youtube-dl works with Bandcamp assuming the sample tracks are all public. The quality depends on what the artist uploads for the sample tracks. This means sometimes you get FLAC.
redacted.ch is the best place for music on the internet currently, period. Not that hard to get too, you just have to read up a little bit and pass the interview.
first time i didn’t read their prep stuff properly.
second time i was sleepy after an all-nighter and answered some questions wrong.
third time i got every answer right but i was paranoid so i went to the prep website to confirm what i had written but they know my IP address so I got booted.
still feel sad about it sometimes when I can’t find some music.
yeah i use that. but sometimes there is some stuff i can’t find on it, especially if i am looking for flacs. but i mainly encode flacs to opus so i don’t mind high quality mp3s either.
fyi, it doesn’t have to only be used via the command line. you can use deemix-pyweb to launch a deemix server, or deemixgui for an Electron “GUI” wrapper if you’d prefer that.
soulseek or nicotine if you are on Linux. Bandcamp.
Bandcamp is awesome. It’s mostly not free, sure, but it’s one of the very few stores that offer DRM-free downloads of music in multiple formats.

rutracker.org is a good tracker that is open to public. you can find high quality mp3s and many times even flacs.
you can download any song (320 kbps mp3, FLAC) from Deezer for free. I use deemix for this.

Do I need to get an invite? do not see any registration option.
You need to pass the interview. Instructions are here: https://interviewfor.red/en/index.html.
man i failed their interview thrice:

Did you look in soulseek?

I’ve been downloading mp3s from YouTube using youtube-DL. Works a treat
Yeah I’ve been doing that for a couple years, at this point it’d take so long to switch to a higher quality option that I just won’t.

Setup a free Deezer account and install Deemix. It’s a commandline application but it works great.
deemix -b flac https://www.deezer.com/en/album/11244086
The application is constantly updated and I’ve been using it for a while flawlessly.

I might check that out. I just assumed that link was to the defunct GUI app.

You might want to consider buying songs and albums from a DRM free place. Think of e.g. Bandcamp, and if you’re in the Benelux or France qobuz.com
While I agree, this is /c/piracy.
Ah, I missed that fact. Just saw the post on the frontpage and didn’t check the community
