I just saw this on HN and thought: Oh well another community, but clicked on it.
WOW, it is by far the fastest community website I ever saw. Can be really a good reddit replacement.
I’m impressed! Keep going!
Extremely interesting platform, finally a good alternative to reddit. 🌟
The only real complaint I have is the design of the platform: it’s right in the middle between modern and raw. I would much rather like if it focused on one of the two approaches.
I’m not sure, I don’t really follow the development, but I think there are a couple of instances for testing federtation, and also some component that are already federated, but not fully functional yet, but it seems that federation is the main priority atm.
Hope to see this place grow and for Lemmy instances to pop up everywhere. A federated alternative to Reddit is a great idea. For some reason the pages don’t always like to load for me (occasionally get a never-ending spinning circle, when viewing or trying to post) but that may just be the sheer amount of users now.
Also would love to see more themes than the existing ones (especially ones with smaller text). All the themes I like are just too big for me. Maybe I should try creating one. 🤔
Woooo! 🎉 Congratulations and huge thanks to all the devs! I joined this platform just a few days ago, and I don’t plan on leaving. You guys have created something really great. Cheers!
I’m new to lemmy, but honestly I could’nt be more excited being a part of this amazing community, and I hope lemmy stays here longer than reddit!
🥳
I think it’s impossible for it to disappear because anyone can back it up from what I understand.

Thx!
Bye facebook, bye instagram, bye google, bye reddit, goodbye everybody!!!
what do you mean?
are you on a quest for libre alternatives, that has finally been completed by finding a replacement for reddit?
FOSS is boss
Lemmy, Mastodon, Self-hosted mail, Codeberg, [matrix], Signal, Invidious, SearX
That’s what happened to me, at least.
😥
Now at 3000 users! Was all of this growth from the HN article?
most likely :)
thank god for the hug of death!

Congratulations! I only joined a few days ago, but I already feel at home. Once federation hits, the numbers will go even higher. Onwards and upwards!
… heading for 3000+ users (Right now : 2903 June 28th 2020). 😄
this did not age well :)
edit: 3300+ after ~3 hours
woaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah ! :)
4000 now :)
Soon it will be over 9000!

Congrats, hopped over from HN and liking what I have seen so far. Will definitely be checking this out a lot in the coming months!
I really wish this place was bigger, I’ll try and vibe until it gets decently sized

There are many alternative themes that you can pick from.
I had no idea there were themes, awesome!!
Thanks for the tip :)

yeah, kinda, at least it’s fast :)
Recently joined this platform, hope this thing really takes off. Exponential growth let’s go!
Glad to have you on board! 👍
Is there a possibility that we can see a graph showing the amount of lemmy users in time?
I don’t have anything set up currently… obvi it is possible bc I have the DB which has a time series of user and join times.
A reddit alternative, federated, FOSS and named after Lemmy Kilmister, I’m in.
This site has potential, keep up the good work!
I like turtles. And Lemmy.
hello everyone, I am thinking in migrating our forums from reddit. how active is the development?
hi, chech the github page out and decide for yourself :)
I did, looks very updated. is probably somewhere but is it federated yet?
much work happens at the moment in the federation branches, so you don’t see that much in the main branch, as far as i understand.

Glad to hear! tx

thanks, I just took a fast peek, they do not seem to be federating from this instance.
🎉

yeah, lemmy has been having a lot of issues recently (server side i mean), but normally it’s always up (the main instance)…
If you get reddit sized, hopefully the .ml DNS servers can cope!
