I’m sick of waiting for the Yubikey USB-C + NFC to come out so I ordered a Solo Key even though the Amazon reviews look a little worrying. Do people generally stick with one supplier?
Yubi keys are no longer open source but Nitro keys are, so my preference would be Nitro keys.
If only Nitro keys supported NFC, I use my Yubikeys to unlock my password manager on my phone as well as my computers.
does that work well? because the solo key got here and boy howdy the nfc is not really functional… which kinda means forty bucks down the drain :(
Yeah it works well for me, although for my setup I have a Yubikey NEO that has part of my GPG key on it. As for my password manager I use pass which encrypts my passwords using my GPG key and for my phone I use this client
NFC is mentioned here : https://github.com/Nitrokey/nitrokey-fido2-firmware Is it not yet officially supported ?
I don’t see it listed on any of the current devices on their store front. Maybe they are working on releasing a key that supports NFC in the future.
Example since that is the firmware for the FIDO2 key under the technical specs (page is in German) https://shop.nitrokey.com/shop/product/nk-fi2-nitrokey-fido2-55 it only lists USB 1.1 Type A
Looks like they only do usb a? Huh.
I have never owned or used one of these. How is Linux support for them?
Arrives tomorrow—I’ll commandeer something Linux around the house and reply back. :) to be clear tho my big use case is webauthn; there may be deficient tooling around other uses and I won’t know.
