16 GB of DDR4, comprising of two 8 GB sticks. I can remember only 1-2 situations where nearly all the RAM was being used.
Your computer will use any extra RAM to cache recently accessed files.

Only 8 GB, but I dont have any problems since I installed earlyoom recently. My new computer will have 16 GB.
I remember actually running out of memory when I had 8 GB on Linux, though I blame both my habit of opening tons of tabs at a time and how unnecessarily resource heavy “modern” websites are.
I have 17 tabs open in Firefox, and thats a relatively low number for me.
64GB. Developing with VMs and Docker can be heavy. Plus it’s nice for gaming.
How much did that cost?
The RAM? $300-400 I think.
That’s more expensive than my second hand Dell Optiplex and its upgrades :grinning face with sweat:
20 GB, two 8 GB sticks and two 2 GB sticks. DDR3.
I had no idea that 3 GB RAM sticks exist.
2 GB. My mistake.

2x8gb and honestly I’d like more. I do a bit of data and it’s nice just plop the whole dataset into ram and sometimes 16 is not enough
