Fight for the Future Inc. (“FFTF”) deploys these websites:

All of their sites force people into CloudFlare’s walled-garden of privacy and network neutrality abuse. Ironically, this organisation’s mission as stated on their tax forms is “advocating to protect the open, neutral Internet from those who seek to restrict creativity; and generally seeking to encourage individual power and freedom.” They rack in around ~$1M/yr, and yet:

  • FFTF sells t-shirts that say “Ask me about net neutrality” (from a CloudFlare website).
  • Paypal payments are accepted for shopping and donations, despite all of Paypal’s well documented abuses.
  • FFTF sites have Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube links and logos, and not a single way for people in the free world to reach them.
  • FFTF’s email address traverses Google’s servers.
  • Google Drive is used for FFTF’s financial statements

Please do not donate to FFTF until they get their own house in order. If anyone knows of a less hypocritical organisation specifically working on netneutrality besides EFF, please mention it here. Thanks.

Thanks for the tips! I hit a language barrier with the first, but it’s pleasant to see that they don’t use CloudFlare or Amazon, and no Facebook/Twitter references. The 2nd one is also free of CloudFlare and Amazon, and has mastodon account. It’s also cool that epicenter.works does not take Paypal donations. oops, I first looked here but then found they take Paypal here.

epicenter.works seems to run savetheinternet.eu, which used to be embarrassingly on CloudFlare but apparently no longer. Although shamefully they link to FB, twtr, MS github, G+, not to mastodon, gnu social, or diaspora. Sadly, they also link to the Paypal version of the epicenter.works donation page.

My findings on alternative net neutrality projects so far:

netneutrality org CloudFlare site? detrimental payment processor detrimental links?
accessnow.org no no (no donations) fb,twtr, instagram, gmail (but PGP key given)
      epicenter.works no Paypal fb,twtr,instagram,youtube,ms github
      netzpolitik.org no Paypal
      openrightsgroup.org no Paypal fb,twtr,instagram,youtube,ms linkedin,ms github
