The question in the subject. Was trying to set up names of some test communities for a local Lemmy instance on my laptop, and there is a restriction. Well, it looks aesthetically of course, and kind of old-school-like, and I like it, but I’d like to hear more on the background behind that, as well as about any plans/ideas to extend this approach to, say, having a more human-readable community names in addition to their ASCII-lowercase handles.

    Yes its intentional. Communities have names (IE the urls / identifiers), but also titles, which can have spaces, and be a longer description.

      Oh weird, I was just experimenting with fonts in order to submit a bug, but occasionally posted the comment above with nonsense inside it.
