Does anyone know if there are visions for the future of authentication in federated networks? A bit tired of creating accounts on multiple Fediverse servers, whereas in non-federated world you can log in using your social network account. How could a single sign-on approach look in the Fediverse?

P.S. Let me know if there is a better community here on Lemmy to ask this question.

Just an idea, but we could do something like Oauth where authentication tokens can be given to websites to sign in with a user account on a different server.

Why? The idea of a decentralised identity is just about the same as any other decentralised service: you choose a trusted identity server or set up your own, and then use it everywhere. In addition, it could serve as a backup of all your feeds from all other services you have logged in.
