Does anyone know if there are visions for the future of authentication in federated networks? A bit tired of creating accounts on multiple Fediverse servers, whereas in non-federated world you can log in using your social network account. How could a single sign-on approach look in the Fediverse?

Just an idea, but we could do something like Oauth where authentication tokens can be given to websites to sign in with a user account on a different server.

Why? The idea of a decentralised identity is just about the same as any other decentralised service: you choose a trusted identity server or set up your own, and then use it everywhere. In addition, it could serve as a backup of all your feeds from all other services you have logged in.
