I’m planning to put on a screen protector, but it’ll only cover the top half of my phone.

  1. Will It keep the crack from spreading?

  2. Will I noticed the difference in touch functionality in terms of top half vs bottom half?

My wife cracked the corner of her screen and applied clear fingernail polish over the crack thinking “what have I got to lose”. That was two years ago and the phone is still going strong and the crack has not spread.

Does the touch screen still work on that corner?

She says it works fine, everything is copacetic, when I suggest buying her a new phone. Should mention she used a toothpick to paint the crack not the brush that comes with the nailpolish.

Here’s an idea for cracked screens: Take clear packaging tape and cover the crack.

I’ve done it with 2 phones. Touch and swipe remain functional, and if you don’t like it, just take off the tape.

Prob will give this a go. Do I do the usual phone screen protector thing so there are no bubbles?

Yeah, apply the tape from one end, and use something flat to press it down. And don’t overlap the tape, just perfect side-by-side strips.

And if you have a case that ‘grabs’ the phone, you can wrap the tape around the edges of the phone (to the back) so it won’t peel. Then trim it up for a custom fit, and put the case back on.

I hope it works okay for you.

I used the screen protector that shipped with my phone or that was bought with I don’t remember. It didn’t cover the whole screen. It broke on rocky ground after falling out of my pocket while in a curve running at full speed. The screen protector was intact but the screen underneath was broken, so I guess it doesn’t prevent the damage from spreading (maybe it reduces the likelihood of it spreading?).

pre-damage: i’m pretty sure that it won’t protect against damage. but damage would be much less worse.
also it creates screen locations that are difficult to slide.
if you need a proper size protector… you should be able to remove the old one postdamage: idk. its an.interesting idea.

sorry if i misunderstand your question
