One less non-libre platform.

I did a year ago and don’t really miss it. I have my RSS reader set to take in a number of subreddits I care about, that mostly just links me to the articles. I don’t involve myself in the comment and browsing of the site.

I’ just too fed up. I’m sick of Reddits toxicity. It just sucks how popular the site is, and it’s a great way to bounce ideas off of a large group of people. The fact that it’s so populous makes it too unique and valuable.

Thanks! I hope my switching will allow a crowd to gather easier. I might consider leaving Reddit temporarily and exclusively posting here for a while to see how well that goes. If it goes well, I might keep it up. If not, I’ll try to evaluate why. I wont be deleting my account until federation though because it is the dealbreaking feature.

I deleted my reddit account long ago when they steered away from open source. So I am happy to have found this piece that was missing on the Fediverse!

Haha as funny as it sounds, I actually already deleted my Reddit account after Richard Stallman resigned. I loved /r/StallmanWasRight before he resigned, but after he resigned, that place turned beyond sour and it was quickly revealed to me that the people there were a cult of personality. They loved Richard Stallman more than they cared about Free Software and freedom. I had mixed feelings about his resignation, but after seeing what that place became, I decided that Reddit probably wasn’t the best place to be for a Libre software advocate anyways.

I quite like it a lot here and I have a lot of hope for this place. My greatest hope is that federation comes soon. It’s the most important feature IMO, but everything here works wonderfully.
