We all know that many Discord servers are nothing but festering pockets of reaction, but TB is different. It’s based. There’s theory, history, current events, shit talking, bad ideas, LGBT channels, and even a voice chat that’s only like 10% trans women with muted microphones. Anime and game channels exist too, though I know there aren’t any g*mers lurking in this community…

With useful learning resources, great community, and lots of laughs, not joining TB isn’t just missing out, it’s downright counter-revolutionary!

    Yucky, discord.com

One of the major reasons I’m on Lemmy and Matrix is to get away from proprietary closed-gate platforms. I personally think anti-capitalists have an obligation to help support alternative platforms. It’s harder for social networks because of where people are at, but the problem will just get worse by neglecting alternatives.

Comrade, I like the idea, but why proprietary centralized US corporate spyware Discord? Why not just make another Matrix Space? GenZedong has one and Lemmygrad also has one.

On a side note I really believe we should just abandon closed source corporate platforms such as Discord. Not just because of the fact that most of the time they gather lots of user information to sell to advertising companies, but also if you become too much of a nuisance to the Discord admins or mods you get to taste their ban hammer. Or if theoretically speaking, Discord as a company as we know it right now eventually ceases to exist (which is a possibility) then what? In my eyes, the Juche route is the only real solution here that’s best in the long-term for everyone.

it’s good to have both. the reality is that we rely on these larger commercial platforms to feed these places. just look at how many people are here because of reddit. it’s important that we have presence in all sorts of communities. i guarantee you a non-insignificant percentage of the people reading this post were radicalised by content posted by comrades on commercial platforms.

and you may think, well we’re already on lemmy so why should we also be on a commercial platform, but we need comrades who are more developed in the closed-source spaces as well to help influence the new people.

I would have thought by now there would be a communist PeerTube instance, just by the sheer size of it and its target audiences. If I recall correctly there are some active anarchist instances like https://kolektiva.media “by anarchists, for anarchists”. There is also watch.breadtube.tv but it’s a more narrow genre instance and I’m unsure of whether it’s ingroup-only or open to any creator.

  • Is there a sub server about people recovering from religion and where to expose reactionary rethoric of them, or we religion victims won’t have a safe space there?

On that server I posted we have similar people who have been victims of brutal religious indoctrination, and it is a topic occasionally discussed
