This mod has been consistently banning MLs off of SLS for a while now. SLS has been taken over by feds…or worse, radlibs.

Yep. Now GenZedong sub in on that way too, i have been banned there yesterday, with absolutely identical reason as from SLS. Not much lose to be honest, not after the utterly shameful mod post and their capitulation to nazis.

How does it happen that the mod teams of these subs are so easily infiltrated by opportunists and purged of principled MLs? Could this happen on Lemmy too at some point or are there safeguards in place to prevent it?

No idea. I might be overthinking it but it all seems to follow the principles of those ultras, while ML strive to be as open as possible, it is very tiring, and eventually they need some people to help. And ultras and opportunists having strange love for blanquist and SR tacticts are infiltrating the mod teams. Then the original head mod resigns and when some blanquist gets to that post, they immediately start the purge. The same happened to MTC, SLS, GZD, C and C101… basically every single major ML sub is taken over by now.

Hell the same happened to real life parties including S-D party under the very Lenin’s nose… at least twice.

I’m pretty sure if lemmygrad were to get infiltrated then a sysadmin who is responsible for the Server where lemmygrad is running on could step in and remove the infiltrator(s) that way. Or just restore from backups if they fucked things up (assuming our sysadmin is responsible enough to do regular backups …)

        • That one after quarantine, where they said new mod team is on and they forbid talking about Ukraine conflict because the admins could even… ban the sub (oh the horror!)

Ok, but that’s what a quarantine does. You get the sub back only if you agree to the conditions the admins set.

I dont agree with it either, but it doesnt mean the mods are nazis.

No it don’t, you DON’T get your sub back, no one ever did, certainly not a single left sub get unquarantined, it’s a one-way to either ban or slow death*. And i didn’t said mods ARE nazis, just they capitulated to the reddit admins, which are open nazi apologists.

My point is that it is not worth it, we all always knew one day GZD will get banned anyways, just as every too based sub before.

*Look at fullcommunism which is quarantined for years and it is nearly dead ruin now, last when i went there the only activity was some guys trying to top one another in proukrainian propaganda.

So r/genzedong has gone full liberal? (Haven’t been on there seriously in a while).

But man, that stinks. I would almost rather it had been banned outright. Not live a weird half-life like the Communist Party USA has since getting infiltrated during the 50s and 60s.

I wouldn’t say “full liberal”, but the new mod team compromised their integrity for a few days more of existence of the sub that’s already doomed, and they are banning people (or at least me, idk if they banned more people) in what is basically identical manner as the very liberal one shown by SLS mods.

most anarchists are ancaps who are in basically rich conservative hiding behind the veil of anarchism to fuck up any and all socialist/communist principled order and paradigm that would subject them to a class analysis because i see two groups feeding anarchism: children of rich bourgeoise conservatives and the criminal underworld

SLS is the wrong place for this stuff. It’s currently filling the role /r/chapotraphouse was filling in the lib to leftist pipeline as a mixed space of both red and black. It’s an important step on the road towards marxism and keeping it attractive to all groups is beneficial.

I genuinely had no idea Chomsky was an anarchist. I thought he was one of those postmodern post-marxists who write takedowns of Stalin in university libraries.

    • Chomsky is what zero materialism does to an MFer. Here he is, literally arguing for MLism in a completely different context:

I’m not in favor of people being in cages.

On the other hand I think people ought to be in cages if there’s a saber-toothed tiger wandering around outside and if they go out of the cage the saber-toothed tiger will kill them. So sometimes there’s a justification for cages. That doesn’t mean cages are good things.

State power is a good example of a necessary cage. There are saber-toothed tigers outside; they are called transnational corporations which are among the most tyrannical totalitarian institutions that human society has devised. And there is a cage, namely the state, which to some extent is under popular control. The cage is protecting people from predatory tyrannies so there is a temporary need to maintain the cage, and even to extend the cage.

      🥴

Is this an argument for neolib governments? Lmao. As long as no hammer and sickle it’s fine.

        • Who knows? Who cares to find out? Chomsky is an ideological windvane.

He’s… fine when he’s criticizing the US empire but there are much better sources out there and Chomsky is only useful for his prominence but much like Richard Wolff he’s got some really trash takes (barely) below the surface.

Is it because he’s an op? Is he a reflection of the ideological hangover from the New Left era? Is he just an opportunist? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

He’s such a strange, frustrating man. Generally a very smart, very educated person with genuinely good takes on some topics like, as you said, criticizing empire, but then he just still buys into that very empires lies even when reality is desperately smacking him in the face. It’s not even no materialism, but an enitrely inconsistent, unprincipled materialism.

Just how can someone that smart come that close to the point and then just…advocate for voting Dems every other year and regurgitate state department points about AES. Whether he’s an op or not, he really is an incredible testimony to the power of deeply ingrained propaganda.

            • What really gets me is that he wrote the book on propaganda and yet he’s a complete sucker for so much western propaganda and he promulgates it himself using his high-profile status.

Idk and I never will but that just seems awfully… convenient, y’know?

Exactly. Man didn’t just write some things about the US empire, he co-authored maybe the most well known book specifically about the mechanisms of propaganda in regards to regime change, war and foreign intervention which tend to happen in AES states and those attempting to become such. Then he somehow turns around and propagates these consent manufacturing points in some very particular cases…

that just seems awfully… convenient, y’know?

I usually hate the fed/op accusation, but Chomsky should be far too smart to not see the contradictions in his thinking, so yeah…seems terribly convenient. That or the propaganda and social repercussions are just that fucking strong.
