Latvia, the apartheid state where ethnic russians have “non citizen passports” and are treated like second class, has just adopted a law allowing anyone who supports Russia and has dual citizenship with another country to be stripped of their latvian citizenship and thus deported if they live in Latvia. Yes the law says “support for war crimes”, but Latvia has already said that supporting Russia equals “supporting war crimes”. Nazism is returning comrades.

Isn’t denying or revoking citizenship based on ethnicity against international law?

Technically its not based on ethnicity, since its because you support Russia. But theyll 100% target ethnic russians, who are already official second class citizens. International law never applies to the west.

        This ☝️
International laws are always used effectively against countries that West does not see as their part. Like Russia, China, India, Brazil and all other countries except USA and EU. I remember one time NATO directly saying they never commits “war crimes” or along those lines after killing civilians in Libyan War. So they are literally immune to International laws or Human Rights or whatever you call them.

Rules for thee not for me

The UN, the institution that is supposed to enforce international law, is literally a western institution controlled by the west. They are literally policing themselves.

Only if those people do not have secondary citizenship and doing so would make them stateless. If they had dual citizenship with another nation, it is within the bounds of law.

  • What does “support” even mean? Saying anything non-negative about Russia? Saying something negative about NATO? Expressing concern about Ukrainian Nazis?

This apparently only applies to those with two passports, but I assume that would include people with dual citizenship who were born in Latvia, not to mention that many of them probably don’t have the resources to move to Russia even if they wanted to…

I mean its already illegal to support Russia in Latvia, an ethnic russian latvian youtuber Kirill Fedorov has been imprisoned for more than 1 month now for making prorussia youtube videos. Hes facing up to 4 years in prison. With this new law, they can also strip you of your citizenship and deport you after finishing your sentence.

To the other country where they have citizenship. If they have dual latvian chinese citizenship for example they will deport them to China. The law only applies to those that have dual citizenship.

Memestates? More like nazistates. Jokes a part, actually this would be impossible (unless you broke the law, which is more common than youd think with this issue), since China doesnt allow dual citizenships. Of course, its very easy to request both and use your chinese passport in China and your latvian one in Latvia. For example i think olympian star Eileen Gu has illegally dual US China citizenship. I think so because she is deliberately ambiguos over which citizenship she has. Plus she must have chinese citizenship since she needs it to compete in the Olympic Team China, but she lives in the US and it would be a real pain in the ass for her to not be a US citizen. Besides, ive heard from consular sources that this is quite common and the bans on this are unenforced.

              • Chill, I know about rampant nazi apologism there, it’s just that it’s hard to take seriously three countries that, combined, have population that is a little over population of my city and live off of begging with the excuse of “Evil Mordor dreams of annexing us, don’t you see we need help?!”.

Hm, that Chinese/US double citizenship part is interesting.

If they ban whistleblowing and freedom of speech, then they must have no justification for their Russian phobia. In the first place, they are supposed to blame only Putin and not all Russians for the humanitarian intervention in Ukraine to protect Ukraine citizens from ethnic cleaning by pro-NATO government that gain power by coop and rigged election.

Nah, that’s the excuse for American libs. These guys are pretty open about who they are blaming.
