According to reports, many of them wanted to surrender, but Ukraine ordered the command of Azov to immediately execute anyone who even suggested surrendering. Zelensky needs some fresh martyrs for his propaganda it seems.

Vacuum bombs are also known as thermobaric bombs. They use pure 100% fuel as explosive, instead of a fuel oxidizer mix like regular explosive. Thus, the oxidizer agent is the oxygen in air. This makes the blast and shock wave much stronger, while the explosion lasts longer. They are much more powerful than regular bombs.

Nothing new, they arent even original anymore. Everytime Russia bombs something theres always 30000 civilians hiding there. The reality is there are no civilians at Azovstal, otherwise Russia wouldnt have carpet bombed it.
I skipped through the CNN article to see what it was like and they did mention that Russia gave them an offer of a corridor and they quoted someone refusing it.

From what ive seen, the battle continues. Apparently Russia is penetrating Azovstal and many nazis are already surrendering. However this battle wont be easy. Below Azovstal there is a huge network of underground tunnels where the nazis are now. This was built during the Cold War as a nuclear bomb shelter for the workers of Azovstal. Penetrating that with bombs is impossible, Russia will clean it up manually.
Also the new offensive in general is going good. Russia is inflicting massive casualties on Ukraine and is advancing. Several settlements in Donbass have been liberated in the last hours, most famously Kreminna, a town of 20k inhabitants in the LPR. The success is so big even the western media has had to report it.
