Basically imagine the gameplay loop of something like Slay the Spire, but use poker hands and add in deck building and deck thinning. Jokers do stuff like multipliers so that’s where number go up.
ETA: Jokers also modify the poker rules as well which makes for some fun runs. For example, there is a joker that allowed for 4 card straights and flushes. There is another that allows for skipped cards in a straight, so like 4,5,7,8, 9 can be a straight. These 2 cards can syyneergize making straights and flushes super easy to get. On top of that, you can buy hand multipliers from packs so you can stack multipliers for straights and then that synergizes with the other 2 cards.
You can stack Jokers and multipliers for pairs and 2 pairs and even win all 10 rounds with just that strategy. The game really is pretty fun if you are real into minmaxing, eng, and other classic Roguelite mechanics.
I keep hearing about this el barto, maybe I should give it a shot; my initial opposition was that I’d be looking at cards the whole time
It seems like looking at cards but combinations of cards make number go up, make dopamine go up?
Is that it?
yeah that’s basically it.

I mean you can start with a red deck lol.
it’s genuinely one of my favourite games ever. you quickly get into the swing of things and it’s such a refreshing gameplay loop
