Make your own server using an old Laptop or PC. It’s quite ez using Linux, then just install all software required. It’s practically free if u don’t care about paying the electricity and a web domain.

If you need an easy way to try it, you can use Yunohost. It includes Mastodon and Pleroma packages.
Yes, it’s so easy and it’s well documented. You only need to read some documents about the prerequisites you need, launch the installer and follow the instructions to easily configure the service you want to put online.
If you allow me to ask please, is it that easy to do so? I mean is it that simple to expose your web app to the internet with Yunohost? i just want to try hosting some websites at home.
