I have a thought that if lemmygrad goes down; then the complete site will be inaccessible. This could be a problem in the present, due to the Ukraine controversy.

    If Lemmygrad goes down (it’s hosted outside of the US, somewhere that NATO shouldn’t be able to legally touch it, so it’s unlikely it would go down so easily) we can just rehost our most up to date backup somewhere else, the site would be down at max a day or two.

    I am not sure if the backend can be decentralised for one instance. The authors on lemmy.ml would be able to help with that.

    That means multiple people paying hosting fees, it sounds nice, but when it comes to paying the moneys it gets hard. If what people are worried is losing the content it would be wiser to have a torrent that updates with the contents.
