I bet it would be delicious
nothing’s stopping you but your own fear.
Also judgement from internet strangers, you can’t forgot that.
It’s pretty common in Canada to be able to order fries with sour cream, green onion, tomatoes, and cheese/queso. (It’s the best thing on taco bells menu and they don’t even have it state-side)
That being said fries are way greasier than a baked potato, and they are better suited to more acidic condiments (ketchup, malt vinegar, etc)
so mayonnaise or tartar sauce it is!
mayonnaise on fries is a staple in Germany.
Anywhere in the world except USA and Canada AFAIK
Unironically my two favorite sauces for fries. I attribute a not insignificant portion of my weight gain pre-COVID on slathering cafeteria fries with too much mayo.
Poutine or gtfo lol
A chain near me called chicken shack serves home style fries coated in garlic butter and I prefer them over standard french fries
Why don’t you?
I like eating my fries with sour cream.
That’s what I was thinking. I’ve been eating sour cream and fries since I was in high school working in fast food.
To tell you the true get yourself a plain cheeseburger and put sour cream on that. It is dope. I figured that out making messy ass chili cheeseburgers and I mixed in sour cream. It wasn’t long before I figured out meat, cheese, and sour cream go very well together.
I think the oil they’re deep fried in takes the place of the butter. As for sour cream, I’m not a fan in general so I couldn’t tell you.
My favorite thing to put on fries is malt vinegar
We’re used to white vinegar up here. First time I asked for vinegar in the US and got this malt thingy I was very disappointed lol
White vinegar on fries??? I don’t know why but that sounds horrible lol I mostly use white vinegar for cleaning
It’s good, both are available with fish and chips here. Malt vinegar is definitely superior though.
I know a lot of people who like to dip French fries in Ranch dressing, which is like sour cream with extra steps.
Mayo with chilli powder
When I make steak fries at home, I’ll sometimes mix sour cream and hot sauce for a dip.
I find poutine to be the superior presentation of the fry as a meal in its own right.
Also, shoutout to lomo saltado, because that shit slaps pretty hard too.
It is, I’m more surprised that you don’t…
Also on the list, any wildcard + Fries.
-
Carne Asada Fries
-
Brisket Fries
-
Fish and Chips (malt vinegar fries with a side of fried fish)
-
Gyro Fries
-
Poutine (Gravy and cheese curds on fries)
-
Hashbrown Fries (Fries with whatever you usually put in hashbrowns)
-
Sausage Gravy Fries
-
Kimchi Fries (although if the Kimchi “pancake” is on offer, get that)
The list goes on. It’s almost easier to list things you wouldn’t want fries with and even then I’m sure some maniac would order fries under Sashimi.

We bought fries today that came with sour cream on them, they were delicious.
You can. Although they’re not typically french fries, they are generally thicker cut so you have somewhere to actually put your condiments.
Because they’re already filled with lots of fats? Saturated fats at that.
In typical fast food probably cost. Sit down restaurants, I bet they would give it to you if you asked. At home, no one is there to stop you!
A place I used to go had sour cream and chili sauce fries on the menu.
Standard issue with potato wedges in Australia.
This was in Tokyo, but the owner travelled a lot and quite probably had them in either Australia or Thailand.
Wherever you go, tasty is tasty.
Were the taters wedge-shaped?
Nope, shoestring
I’m from the deep south and over here we don’t call them french fries. We call them American fries, or just fries. French fries are actually a kind of crisp shaped like fries.
I too am from the deep south. Everyone calls them French fries lol
No one has ever called them “American fries” because that’s already a different thing
Besides, we’re supposed to call them Freedom Fries.
How deep? Like Brazil/Colombia “deep” or proper Chile deep? Methinks you’re from the not-so-deep-south
Ah ok, you’re just trolling. Pass.
Unless you’re in France, they only fry fries once so the fries are soggy as hell.
Edit: bake -> fry
